The Greatest Gift

For it was in a stable that the Baby lay
because the Inn nearby had turned them away.
A Babe of a virgin had come to pass,
the promised Saviour was here at last!

Though...it makes you wonder why God would allow
His Son to bed in the trough of a cow.
On us too, it is sometimes lost,
His reason for living, to hang on a cross

Though short is the time He spent on the earth
Year after year, we remember His birth

What came to us as an innocent Babe
was a plan from God, our souls to save.

Yet, who could know what God would send...
He gave us a Gift that would never end.
The wee little Tot, who slept in the hay,
His life was given to show us the way.
