Welcome to Day 1 of the devotional called: “Standing Firm”.
This is a 31-day Daily Devotional that will focus on the putting on each piece of the Armor of God daily, so we can stand firm in our faith.
Paul said in Ephesians 6:11-13 “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Although we believers need to always focus on putting on our full Armor daily, we thought October would be a most appropriate time to turn our focus on wearing the Armor, since there seems to be a growing interest in our world in the occult, and the Halloween celebrations seem to be getting darker and more ungodly. We believers need to stay focused to be aware of what we are facing spiritually and be diligent in wearing our Armor daily so that we can “stand against the wiles of the devil” wherever we are.
So each day we will focus on one piece of Armor and a scripture verse that relates to it. There will also be a practical strategy to help you and a short prayer.
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—”
Prayer: Dear Father God, You have told us what we as believers can expect to face daily in this world and You have instructed us how we might be able to resist the enemy’s attacks and stand firm in our faith. So I pray now that You will give us the strength to suit up in Your Armor every morning so we might be prepared for whatever tries to come against us during the day, and at night, when we sleep, I pray Your protection over us as well, for I know You are always with us and that You never slumber nor sleep. Thank You Father God. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Blessings to you daily. If you know any believers who you think might be interested in this daily devotional, please invite them to join us.
