For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13
How do we serve one another through love? 1 Peter 4:10 says: “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”
What are your Spiritual Gifts? If you don’t know, make it a point to ask God and find out so you can use them daily.
Plus, we all have some time, talent and treasure we can share with those around us, so as we go out into the world let’s be aware of those we meet who could use what we have to share.
Maybe we have some time to babysit for a couple hours for a young couple so they can go out to dinner, or maybe our talent is cooking or baking, if so make some soup for a neighbor who might be feeling ill or a friend who needs a sweet homemade birthday treat. If you have extra finances, maybe buy a homeless person a meal or gift card. There are lots of ways to plant Seeds of Service, even intangible ways, like calling someone on the phone, writing a note of encouragement, visiting a shut-in, loaning a book to someone who loves to read or just offering a listening ear to someone you meet.
Jesus said: “Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.” John12:26
So if we are following Christ daily, we will know the best ways to serve.
