Mercy implies compassion that forbears punishing even when justice demands it.
The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. Psalm 103:8
As God showed us mercy when we were yet sinners, so we also need to show mercy to others as well.
Mercy Seeds might be the most difficult seeds to plant and share, as our natural flesh will get in the way. But, as God, our Heavenly Father, has shown mercy to us, we also must show mercy to others. We do not get to pick and choose who to be merciful to, Jesus said in Luke 10:36-37 that we should show mercy to our neighbor whether we think he deserves it or not.
“So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
Therefore, in obedience, we just need to plant a Mercy Seed wherever we see the need for it and then let God do the rest.
So then, it does not depend on human will or effort but on God who shows mercy. Romans 9:16
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. James 3:17
