Planting Spiritual Seeds-Listen
Yet even lifeless things, whether flute or harp, when producing a sound, if they do not produce distinct [musical] tones, how will anyone [listening] know what is piped or played? 1Corinthians 14:7
Listening Seeds
The above verse is a very practical one that we can relate to sharing the gospel. One way we can look at it is, if we don’t share gospel seeds with people, how will they ever hear of the good news of Christ? We could say, well, perhaps someone who is better able to do so will come along and share it with them, but we have to remember that Jesus told all of us believers to preach the gospel. He wasn’t saying that to some who were of elegant speech or those who were called to be preachers, teachers or evangelists, He was speaking to all His disciples.
Another way of looking at this verse, is that we need to be good listeners in order to reach people with the gospel. We need to take time to Listen. Good listeners are often hard to find nowadays. There is so much noise in the world that often our ears shut it out, we don’t take the time to really listen to others and listening is very important for it shows and tells someone that their words have worth, that they are important. People need to tell their stories and they need listening ears to hear them. Be sure your seed bag is filled with Listening Seeds and then ask God to show you who needs a listening ear today.
And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom [using clever rhetoric], but [they were delivered] in demonstration of the [Holy] Spirit [operating through me] and of [His] power [stirring the minds of the listeners and persuading them], 1 Corinthains 2:4
